AKON

Aliaune Thiam or “Akon”, as we know him, has born in 1981 and grown up in Senegal before he and his family went to New Jersey.

He discovered Hip-hop music there, in New Jersey and he started to work on his music ideas, writing without anyone knows what he was doing and recording in a studio.

At the age 18, Akon was charged for being involved in a car thief operation and stayed in jail for a year and a half. When he was free, Akon began to take his music talent compleatly serious.

The tapes found their way to SRC/Universal, which released Akon's debut, Trouble, LP, in June 2004. The success of the song "Locked Up" made that he record two more singles:

"I Wanna Love You", featuring Snoop Dog and "Smack That", featuring Eminem.
Here is Mr. Lonely, his first debut.
